Why is agriculture industry doing well when we are in financial crisis?

Thanks! Why is agriculture industry doing well when we are in financial crisis? From my perspective, the ag industry is actually in a decline. Only those in the industry with products that are a necessity would be doing well (milk, etc.).

Our family has noticed a huge decline in prices for beef cattle over the last few years. The price of pigs dropped a little and sheep have been consistently low. Also, the price of tractors and farm equipment has gone up along with fuel costs. We've been scraping by lately. We definitely haven't been making any sort of profits. Why is agriculture industry doing well when we are in financial crisis?Because people always need to eat no matter what!....Hehe, I'm just kidding. I don't know the answer, but I'm interested, too, actually. I can't say everyone in the industry is doing well, though. I mean, I live in agricultural valley and not long ago, one of the major farms here went bankrupt and had to close down. I volunteered to help at their auction and they had to sell all of their farm equipment and stuff. It was real sad in the end, so not everyone is doing well in these tough times. =(Why is agriculture industry doing well when we are in financial crisis?I'm not sure about that. I know we've been experiencing the opposite.

We raise beef cattle and the prices have dropped a lot in the last couple years, we had to sell off about 600 head of our cattle because we just couldn't afford them with the prices we were getting.

A really close friend of mine's family owns a farm. They just finished harvest and their prices have dropped dramatically from last year. Why is agriculture industry doing well when we are in financial crisis?
Where did you get the idea that the agriculture industry is doing well? Agribusiness is making a killing off the backs of farmers and ranchers who are rapidly going under and leaving farming because they can't earn a living any more.
