USA is the leader of the world economy. If we're hurting in USA, then the rest is hurting as well. When they bailed out the giant financial companies in US, they pretty much bailed out the whole financial companies all over the world. =) You have to be an economy literate to comprehend what's going on with our economy right now.
Israel is not being impacted from what I know. Many of the huge corporations were run by Jews, and I heard that they had connections to Israel that helped spare Israel.
