If there had been more government regulation of Wall Street, could this financial crisis have been prevented?

And if greater regulation and oversight would have worked, then why do Republicans CONTINUE to advocate less government? Do they really think big business can police itself? If there had been more government regulation of Wall Street, could this financial crisis have been prevented?
WE have the Securities and exchange commission.AND the Senate Banking committee,,,

It isn't that we don;t have enough regulation, we just have too many regulators that aren''t doing their jobs.If there had been more government regulation of Wall Street, could this financial crisis have been prevented?
No.

Don't think so.

Look in the real world.

Decode this lyrics " Self control"

It's not the regulation.

It's already in placed.

"It's the lost generation themselves who created the mess in building up the pyramids.

Having the first and middle chapters of the lesson without the last chapter missing in time.

With them all sliding down the pyramids.

What do you think? If there had been more government regulation of Wall Street, could this financial crisis have been prevented?
The only deregulation I know of that helped cause this mess was the repeal of the Glass Steagal Act. That was pushed by republicans and signed by Clinton. A huge portion of it was caused by federal bills that opened up the housing market to take the fall it did. "Free" trade has also laid many bricks in this road to decline.

Oversight is ok with me being a limited government promoter. It is all the over budget programs that run our taxes up and ridiculous laws like the war on drugs that cause the problems.
Probably not, in fact government regulations and law encouraged it. They would have just tried to tax derivatives once they figured out what they were.
