Why dollar is appreciating inspite of financial crisis in US?

I am confused regarding dollar, its value is increasing day by day and rupee is depreciating continuously, while the situation in US is not good...why??Why dollar is appreciating inspite of financial crisis in US?This is because the US dollar is considered to be a 'safe haven' in times of economic uncertainty.

Why dollar is appreciating inspite of financial crisis in US?You're looking at the value of the dollar vs the rupee.

That's not the same as the 2008 dollar vs the (say) 1913 dollar in the US.

If anything, the US dollar is becoming only slightly more valuable today than it was last week. That doesn't say anything about its actual value, only its relative value.

Why dollar is appreciating inspite of financial crisis in US?let me paraphrase a brilliant economic commentator:

'when the US sneezes, the rest of the world catches a cold'

The rise of the dollar is a relative thing, as much trouble as the US is having, everyone else is having much more trouble.

For proof just look at the EU banking plan, it's a good one but it solves a much larger problem than the one in the US.

Let's not even talk stock markets, the US has been hurt, Asia has been crushed and the Russians can't even keep their market open because the losses are too severe.
