How is the current financial crisis different from the savings and loan crisis in the 1980's?

thank you, I was getting tired of reading the same old "Obama this, Obama that questions"

the savings and loan crisis was on a smaller scale, they were created to help small businesses and home buyers. they didn't have the regulations of a regular bank, and they were able to do investment banking (buying stocks or bonds with bank funds, used to be illegal, Bush overturned it)

The savings and loans started buying a large number of bonds, thought to be safe. however the bond market was being manipulated by a shady character named Micheal Milken. he single handed started selling high yield bonds and basically put the savings and loans out of businessHow is the current financial crisis different from the savings and loan crisis in the 1980's?it's much biggerHow is the current financial crisis different from the savings and loan crisis in the 1980's?This one is much larger and further reaching. The Bush's were both presidents when these scandals happened.
