What were the reasons for financial crisis in the French Revolution?

The French taxation system created a financial crisis. The nobility were not taxed. Also, the French supported the American Revolutionary army. This expense combined with lack of revenu created the crisis. What were the reasons for financial crisis in the French Revolution? The ancien regime had fairly recently fought several costly wars (don't forget that they backed the United States in the American Revolutionary War) and racked up enormous expenses. Their revenue streams weren't that great, and due to a number of financial schemes (such as the sale of annuities and pensions) they were locked into substantial monetary outflows without any increases in incomes. What were the reasons for financial crisis in the French Revolution?1. wars (american revolution; they helped because the british were america's enemy and the enemy of your enemy is your friend)

2. the tax system was horrible (only the third estate(bourgeoisie) was taxed so the clergy and nobility who had most of the money weren't paying any of it, keep in mind the 3rd estate made up over 90% of the population)

3. the king at the time (louis xvi) spent huge amts of $

because of all of this france was giving away/wasting huge amts of money i think 576 millionish and they weren't getting any so you can see how it went wrong...
